About Kaş – Kekova
Kaş is a small, characterful town at the western end of Antalya province, with whitewashed houses, an ancient theatre overlooking the sea and Lycian sarcophagi standing in its lanes. The Greek island of Kastellorizo (Meis) lies just offshore. To the east, around Kekova, the remains of an ancient settlement partly swallowed by the sea after earthquakes show through the clear water. The castle-topped hamlet of Simena (Kaleköy), with a Lycian tomb rising from the shallows, and the quiet harbor of Üçağız complete the scene. Myra's rock tombs, the vast beach at Patara and Xanthos, a UNESCO World Heritage site, add even more to explore.
The signature trip is a Kekova boat tour from Üçağız or Kaş, gliding over the sunken city, stopping at Simena and swimming in nearby bays. Guided sea kayaking tours get you closer to the submerged ruins. Kaş is also one of Türkiye's leading dive centers, with everything from try dives to certification courses. Culture tours link the Church of St. Nicholas at Demre with Myra, or Patara with Xanthos. TurTalebi brings together tours from local firms in and around Kaş, so you can compare them and book securely by card.

All ToursTop Things to See
Kekova Sunken City
Steps, walls and foundations of an ancient town, partly submerged after earthquakes, are clearly visible from boats and kayaks. It is a protected area, so swimming near the ruins is not allowed.
Simena (Kaleköy)
With no road access, this tiny village is reached by boat. Climb to the hilltop castle for sweeping views of Kekova, and look for the Lycian sarcophagus standing half in the sea.
Demre and Myra
Myra's rock-cut Lycian tombs and Roman theatre are the most striking sight in Demre. Nearby, the Church of St. Nicholas honors the bishop whose story inspired the Santa Claus legend.
Patara Beach and Ancient City
Backed by dunes and stretching for kilometers, this sandy beach is a nesting site for loggerhead turtles. Behind it, the ancient city includes the assembly hall where the Lycian League met.
Diving in Kaş
The clear water off Kaş hides underwater walls, caves and wrecks. Beginners can do a try dive with an instructor, while certified divers head for deeper sites.
Xanthos
Once a leading city of ancient Lycia, Xanthos is a UNESCO World Heritage site together with nearby Letoon. Its pillar tombs and theatre fit easily into a Kalkan or Patara day trip.

When to Go
The sea around Kaş is warm enough for swimming from May to late October. Diving is possible year-round, though the water is warmest in late summer and autumn. July and August are hot, and boats to Kekova are at their busiest. May, June, September and October bring milder weather and quieter coves, while spring and autumn are ideal for hiking the Lycian Way or touring Myra and Xanthos. Winter is peaceful, but fewer tours run.
Getting There
Dalaman Airport is the closest to Kaş, about two hours away by road, while Antalya Airport is a little over three hours along the coast. The winding D400 coastal road passes Demre and the Kekova turnoff when you come from Antalya, and the Patara turnoff and Kalkan when you come from Fethiye. Most boats to Kekova leave from the village of Üçağız, a short drive east of Kaş.
Practical Tips
- On a kayaking tour to Kekova, bring sunscreen, a hat and a dry bag, as you'll spend hours paddling in full sun.
- Avoid scheduling a dive on your last day, since divers are advised to wait at least a day before flying.
- Wear sturdy shoes in Kaleköy, where the climb to the castle follows uneven steps and rocky paths.
