About Mediterranean
Türkiye's Mediterranean Region follows the Taurus Mountains along one of the sunniest coastlines in the country, with long summers and mild winters. Around Antalya, the ancient lands of Lycia, Pamphylia and Cilicia meet the shore: the seaside Temple of Apollo at Side, the forest-wrapped ruins of Olympos and the half-submerged remains at Kekova are just a few examples. Along the coast you will find the pine-backed bays of Kemer, the long beaches of Belek and the dive sites of Kaş. Farther east, the island castle at Kızkalesi near Mersin and the spice-rich cooking of Hatay show another side of the region.
Most trips are built around Antalya: a walk through Kaleiçi and Düden Waterfall, a culture tour to Perge and Aspendos, boat trips from Kemer or Kaş and rafting in Köprülü Canyon are favorites. Sea kayaking and boat tours between Kaş and Kekova, day hikes on the Lycian Way, Alanya's castle and caves and jeep safaris in the Taurus foothills are other popular things to do on the Turkish Riviera. Balancing busy resorts with quieter villages such as Olympos and Çıralı keeps the pace relaxed. TurTalebi lets you compare these experiences from local firms and book them securely by card.

Antalya and Kaleiçi
Kaleiçi's narrow lanes wind down to the old harbor past Hadrian's Gate and restored Ottoman mansions, while the Düden cliffs, where a waterfall drops into the sea, and the Antalya Museum round out a city visit.
Side and Manavgat
Side pairs an ancient theater and a Temple of Apollo that glows at sunset with sandy beaches, while nearby Manavgat Waterfall and boat trips on the Manavgat River make easy add-ons.
Kaş and Kekova
Kaş is a laid-back harbor town with excellent diving, and Kekova's sunken ruins are best explored by boat or sea kayak. The castle above Simena gives a sweeping view over the bay.
Alanya
Alanya Castle crowns a rocky peninsula above the town, with the Seljuk-era Red Tower and Damlataş Cave below. Long beaches and boat trips around the headland complete the picture.
Lycian Way and Olympos
The Lycian Way links ancient cities and mountain villages on foot from Fethiye to Antalya. Olympos, with ruins hidden in forest, and the eternal flames of Chimaera near Çıralı are among its highlights.
Kızkalesi and Hatay Cuisine
In the eastern Mediterranean, the island castle at Kızkalesi, the Heaven and Hell sinkholes near Silifke and Hatay's cuisine of künefe, hummus and countless mezes reward travelers who go beyond Antalya.

When to Go
Beach season runs from May to late October, with July and August very hot and humid. For ancient sites, hiking the Lycian Way and rafting, April, May, October and November are more comfortable. In spring you can see snow on the Taurus peaks while sunbathing on the coast. Winters stay mild by the sea, making it a good time for museums and ruins without the crowds, though the water is cool for most swimmers.
Getting Around the Region
Antalya Airport is the main gateway, with Gazipaşa-Alanya, Dalaman and Çukurova Airport, between Mersin and Adana, as alternatives. The coastal highway follows the shore from Kaş in the west to Mersin in the east; some stretches are winding, but the views are superb. A classic route starts in Antalya, heads west to Kemer, Olympos and Kaş–Kekova, then east to Belek, Side–Manavgat and Alanya. With more time, continue along the coast to Mersin and on to Hatay.
Practical Tips
- Swimming and diving over Kekova's sunken ruins is forbidden, so swim only at the coves where boats make designated stops.
- In summer, visit Perge, Aspendos and other ruins early or late in the day, as there is very little shade.
- If you hike the Lycian Way, avoid the summer midday heat and carry enough water for each stage, as some sections have no springs.
